Award-winning ballerina Evelyn Hart is an international renowned dancer and one of Canada's most treasured artists. Evelyn began her dance training at the Dorothy Carter School of Dance in London when she was fourteen. She briefly attended the National Ballet School before coming to Winnipeg to study at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in 1973. In 1980, Evelyn won a Bronze Medal at the World Ballet Concours in Japan. Later that year, Evelyn came to international attention when she became the first Canadian to be awarded a Gold Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, as well as the rarely awarded Certificate of Exceptional Artistic Achievement. With the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Evelyn has toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia. A popular guest artist, she has also appeared with numerous leading ballet companies on stages throughout the world.
Johanna began her dance training at the age of four, attending the Osmo Dance School in Stockholm, Sweden and later The Swedish Ballet School. She has an extensive performance background beginning with the Royal Swedish Ballet and Ostgotabaletten. Johanna has also been a dancer and company class instructor for the Barents Dance Ensemble and a company member of NorrDans. Since coming to Canada she has worked with The Chimera Project, Kaeja d’Dance, Kathleen Rea, Santee Smith, Louis Laberge-Cote and ProArteDanza, and she has been a company member of Toronto Dance Theatre since 2002. Johanna also teaches modern and ballet at Dance-Teq, School of Toronto Dance, the 509 Collective and Toronto Dance Theatre.
Named as one of Canada's new generation of "ballet sensations" (MacLean's Magazine) Emily Molnar is a graduate of The National Ballet School. She is a former member of The National Ballet of Canada, Ballet British Columbia and The Frankfurt Ballet where she created and performed an extensive repertoire under William Forsythe. Since 1998, Molnar has created and performed several works as a choreographer and solo artist. Her recent works include: Swivel Fields for Augsburg Ballet; LifeLines, a full evening collaboration with Gioconda Barbuto and Michael Slobodian; Utterance for Mannheim Ballet; 4 Flights down for Cedar Lake Dance; Carmina Burana for Alberta Ballet, with an industrial set design, new video, live orchestra and full chorus; and Etudes Pour Piano, a duet with pianist Corey Hamm to the music of Gyorgy Ligeti. In September 2005, Molnar was invited to participate in The New York City Choreographic Institute where she worked with dancers from The New York City Ballet. Molnar is the Artist in Residence and Rehearsal Director for the Apprentice Dance Company at Arts Umbrella and a creative process teacher and coach. In February 2008, she premiered in Margie Gillis' new full evening work, M.Body.7.
Roberto Campanella received versatile dance training in Rome at the Scuola Italiana di Danza Contemporanea. In addition to Ballet, Character, Pas de Deux and Repertoire with teachers such as Victor Litvinov, Elisabetta Terabust and Ricardo Nunez, he was exposed to a wide variety of different dance disciplines such as Jazz, Modern and African-Cuban. Roberto is currently the founder, choreographer and Artistic Director of contemporary dance company, ProArteDanza, launched in October 2004 with audience and critical acclaim.
Upon graduation from Bytom State Ballet School in Poland, Robert Glumbek joined The Great Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Warsaw as a soloist where he worked with choreographers such as John Neumeier, Maurice Bejart, Hans Van Manen, John Butler, and Constantine Siergiejew. In 1987, Glumbek came to Canada and worked for a variety of corps; Theatre Ballet of Canada in Ottawa with Larry Gradus; the Judith Marcuse Company in Vancouver; Myth Productions with Learie Nichols before settling in 1990 with Desrosiers Dance Theatre, where he danced for ten years and was instrumental in the creation of many roles.
D.A. Hoskins is a freelance choreographer and visual artist based in Toronto. The recipiant of the purstigece Clifford E. Lee Award for choreography from the Banff Centre of the Arts and Hubbard Street II’s Choreographic residency in Chicago, Hoskins has created over forty choreographic works. These include commissions from the Elora Music Festival, Pendrecki String Quartet, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Dancetheatre David Earle, the Open Ears Festival and Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra. In January 2008, D.A. Hoskins launched with dance artists Danielle Baskerville and Brendan Wyatt the Dietrich Group – a platform for the creation and producing of multidisciplinary works in dance. Designed specifically to facilitate exchanges in art, the Dietrich Group presented its first full evening production entitled ARTFAG at Buddies in Badtimes Theatre to sold-out houses and much critical success.
Je-an Salas is a Soloist with the National Ballet of Canada. Born in Iloilo City, Philippnes, Ms. Salas trained at the Philippine High School for the Arts and was a member of Ballet Philippines. She came to Canada in 1990 to attend Canada’s National Ballet School professional programme after which she apprenticed with The National Ballet of Canada and subsequently joined the company. Her roles include Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty, Dot in The Contract (The Pied Piper), Selim in Abdallah, The Tales of the Arabian Nights, the Italian and Hungarian Princesses in Swan Lake, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, the Bee and the Sheep in The Nutcracker, Anita in Don Quixote, and the pas de quatre in Giselle.
